Jim leaves the city with a pack of smokes and a guitar as he heads into the darkness of the swamps. There's nothing there for him but a lingering light in the distance to light up the way. He heads on his journey through the swamps of life, with the false gaseous light in the distance lighting the way. Is it real? Is it a farce? Who cares?! Jim follows in his rowboat until the false light in the distance goes out and he is left stranded in the darkness. Darkness of life. Nowhere to go. Nothing. Just darkness. Yet from the suction of the swamps, he eventually gets out, and continues on his path to nowhere. Away from the swamps, the desert, and back to life, whatever that means.
